Beryllium Copper Stamping
Beryllium Copper Stamping: controlled, treated, and transformed parts!
Beryllium Copper Stamping to create durable, high-performance components is a skill that Ditron excels at. Used largely in electronic applications, the extremely dependable characteristics of Beryllium Copper (also known as Copper Beryllium) make it a preferred choice for contacts, connectors, springs, and durable, special-purpose parts used in medical, aerospace, defense, automotive, and more.
High-speed stamping soft Beryllium Copper to exacting tolerances.
Beryllium Copper is a copper alloy that is composed of 0.5 to 2.5% Beryllium and other elements. In its “soft state” this malleable metal can be easily controlled and pressure-formed into intricate shapes. This allows us to stamp very small Micro-Precision parts — and even smaller Micro-Miniature parts — at super-fast speeds while maintaining strict specified tolerance accuracy.
Heat treating Beryllium Copper to achieve C17200 tensile characteristics.
Heat treating Beryllium Copper (also referred to as Age Hardening) is a process that greatly improves the tensile properties and performance of stamped parts. We can achieve the desired mechanical properties our customers request by carefully controlling the heating times and temperatures in our array of inert gas atmosphere ovens. The ovens give our Finishing Department flexibility to batch process Beryllium Copper Stamping parts as loose pieces in bulk, as measured-length strip parts, or as on-strip pieces attached to continuous coiled rolls.
Beryllium Copper C172 stampings advantages:
Once Age Hardened, Beryllium Copper “C172” offers the highest strength and hardness of any commercial copper-base alloy. Advantages of Beryllium Copper stampings include:
- Easily formable to complex shapes meeting tight tolerances
- High resistance to stress relaxation at service temperature less than 105°C
- High Spring Rate versus other copper-based materials
- Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity
- Highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation
- Non-sparking
- Recyclable and RoHS compliant
